Match Report | Another performance with the good parts much better but the lapses lost us the game. Coach Skinner's emphasis on game control bore fruit as did getting the diamond to hold its shape not leats as he played top of the diamond! After a shaky start when Vale scored their first goal, Isca started to control the midfield space and opened up good areas behind the Vale defence. The pressure eventually yielded a short corner from which Bower converted with a powerful shot. Isca then took control and made an increased number of good balls to the two front men Smith and Miszewski who made good D entries and we were unlicky not to convert on a number of occasions. Pressure was built with greater control and the chances were definitel there as a result. The second half saw Vale ease back into the game as Isca lost momentum and stood off a little allowing Vale midfilders to set up runs at the Isca back four. This shift in pressure and a tendency to lose the ball after intercepting in our 22 led to two decent goals from Vale. On balance, Isca were the better team in the first half and should take a lot out of the improvements. Retaining shape and marking whilst rotating players should be a focus for next weeks game against West Dorset. |
