Match Report | We were disappointed to lose a game in which we had far the most possession. However, East Devon took their chances well and Isca struggled to turn possession into clear scoring opportunities. We started well with the midfirld blend of Bower and Hayes combining well with the youthful skillss and energy of Dixon and Ahmad. One spell led to Isca possession for a good 3 minutes. As umpire Goodridge commented, this made ir very easy to officiate!! Attacks led to a couple of very good chances including good work by Bower receiving the ball on the oppo's baseline and crossing only to see the ball run along the length of the goaline without anyone able to get a stick on it. However, East Devon slowly got back into the game with some penetrating passes into the D and scored their first aginst the run of play. This was followed by a second unstoppable tomohawk that left keeper Kiwi grasping at thin air.
Stung by the scoreline, Isca recovered dominance in the second half and created good chances and forced another penalty corner. After the ball came loose, a powerful finish by Julian Smith found the roof of the net. Despite some further good build up Isca werent able to assert themselves fully and East Devon came back for their third.
Overall, there was much positive to take away from the game which was played in good spirit. Everyone was just pleased to be back playing matches again |
